Henry Mphathiwa

Founder/Chairman/Trustee

Henry Mphathiwa has a Master’s Degree in Business Information Systems (University of East London) and a Diploma in Health and Social Care (University of Greenwich).  He is an experienced healthcare practitioner with over 15 years working with people suffering from dementia in the United Kingdom.  He has worked with various cases of dementia including vascular dementia, Frontotemporal dementia, and Lewy Body dementia in a Care/Nursing Home setting as well as private care supporting clients during their dementia journey to enable them to continue to live with dementia in a supportive environment.

Henry wishes for Pelonomi Foundation to be a platform through which our communities can learn about Dementia and Cardiovascular diseases as well as lead the way in uniting against dementia to ensure there is support available for people affected by dementia, enabling many other families to benefit similarly. It is his believe that there is a significant opportunity in Botswana to not only educate our communities about these conditions, but to also accelerate societal change to enable people with dementia and their carers to continue living their lives with dignity, compassion and with full support like other terminal diseases.

Ms Uneni Mogoma

Executive Secretary/Trustee

Uneni Mogoma is a philanthropist and founder of David Mogoma Foundation. She brings the voice and eyes of human dignity to the process of alleviating poverty and community social development mainly in rural areas. Uneni is also a member of Botswana Council of NGOs Youth Forum which aims to empower and strengthen the participation of Botswana youth in the implementation of national policies. Through her NGO, her interest is to help guide unemployed youth and women in coming up with ways in which they can be self-reliant and help secure funds through international grants and connecting with the relevant stakeholders who can help them in investing in businesses that can help to improve their lives. She has more than 4 years of working with communities in the rural areas, and has learned that solutions to poverty must be driven by discipline, empathy and accountability. Uneni holds a number of qualifications that include a Certificate Sustainable Development in Business, a Diploma in Business Management, a Bachelor of Arts in English& Environmental Sciences as we as a Master’s degree in Business Administration. She is highly experienced in development, direction, and management of Non-Profit Organizations and has profound knowledge of non-profit sector trends & program management practices. She has been the Director of the David Mogoma Foundation since October 2018 where she manages and supervises all operations and financial activities of the organization.

Ms Kago G Paledi

Counselor/Trustee

Kago holds a Bachelor of Arts in Counselling (2016 to May) and a Diploma in Counselling (2011 to 2013) from Boitekanelo College. She worked for Statistics Botswana as a Team Lead BAIS V Mapping and Listing. She also worked for the National AIDS and Health Promotion Agency as a Data Processing Officer (Coder) for BAIS V/TB Survey from June to August 2019. She was a Student Counsellor at the Broadhurst 2 Clinic for a month, and was involved in general counselling, adherence counselling, as well as HIV/AIDS pre and post counselling. She also worked as a Camp Hope 2017 Counsellor at the Baylor Children’s Clinic Centre of Excellence for a month, where she was involved in taking care of the campers, counselling the campers, and facilitating camp activities. She worked as a counsellor for Dairy R Solutions for 3 months, and was responsible for counselling clients.

She worked for Cordon Emerging Market (in collaboration with NACA) as a Life skills Facilitator for 9 months where she participated in wise up Shuga orientation and training and facilitated community and youth mobilization activities. Kago worked for SAPSSI (Salvation Army Psychosocial Support Initiative) for 18 months as a Life Skills Facilitator responsible for training junior school students on life skills. She worked for 4 years for the BOFWA (Botswana Family Welfare Association)’s Youth Friendly Clinic as a Lay Counsellor. She was responsible for conducting routine HIV/AIDS testing and other counselling services, conducting regular health talks outreach activities to clients as well as carrying out home visits to clients and sensitize them about sexual reproductive health.

She has also volunteered in various posts that include community service with BONURS, peer educator volunteer with BOFWA, peer educator volunteer with Boitekanelo College, Youth Action Movement (YAM) with BOFWA, theatre practitioner with Tsoga Africa Theatre works (which is a Youth Health Organisation (YOHO) affiliate) as well as a Youth Against AIDS volunteer with Tebelopele. She has attended various training courses that include BAIS V and TB Survey for Supervisors, Leadership training, Rapid HIV/AIDS Testing & Counselling, Peer Education Training, Personal growth & life skills, General management, Project management: Camp Training, Curriculum messaging Training, Counselling skills & theories, Public speaking and facilitation skills and the Shuga Discussion Group Facilitator course

Mr Odirile Mogorosi

Trustee

Odirile works as a Pre-Press Manager for Impression House (2015 to date). He was an Assistant Pre-Press Manager with the same company from 2010-2014, and was their Graphic Designer from 2003-2013. Prior to that, he worked as a graphic designer for Quick Print from March to September 2003 and for the Botswana Book Centre (Pula Press) from 2002 to 2003. He is conversant with page layout, redrawing logos, designing annual reports, back drop, x banners, wall paper, tear drop, roll up banners, magazines, newsletters, canvas boxes, promotional adverts, letterheads, business cards, posters, car branding, etc, and the execution of all designing work as per customer specifications.

Odirile has been outstanding in the design of Pelonomi Foundation’s Profile booklets and merchandise and has a great understanding of quality standards that include ISO 9001: 2015, 2013 (Quality Management System Awareness), ISO 9001: 2008, 2010 (Quality Management Principles), and ISO 9001: 2008. He obtained the International Diploma in Computer Studies (IDCS) (2003 – 2004) and holds certificates of accomplishment in C-MAN (Certificate in Computer Maintenance) (2002-2003) and Computer Operations (2002). He also holds an Introduction to Computers (2001) certificate of attendance from The Gaborone Institute of Professional Studies.

Mr Abdussalam Leslie Ntshwarisang

Trustee

Abdussalam holds an Associate Degree in Interior Design from Limkokwing University (2011 to 2014), and an NCC in Architectural Draughting from Tswelelopele Brigades Centre (2006 – 2008). He is currently a Director/ Principal Designer at BINCO (Pty) Ltd, a position he has held from 2014. He was an interior designer/ and architect intern at Space Interiors (Pty) Ltd from March 2014 to May of the same year.

He worked as a CAD technician for Med Projects (Pty) Ltd (Architectural & Engineering Consultants) from 2009 to 2011. Prior to that, he was a CAD technician intern for the same company from June 2007 – December 2007.

Ms. Stacey Wambui Mphathiwa

Trustee

Stacey has a Diploma in Hotel Management (International Hotel and Tourism Institute – Kenya) as well as a course in Front Office Operations from Kenya Utalii College .  In 2016 she joined the then Concord Hotel as a Front Desk/Guest Relations Officer and a year later (2017) was recruited to join Westorn Hotel in a similar position until August 2019 when she moved back home to Botswana.

In April 2020 Stacey joined YTV Botswana as a Productions intern, a position she heled until September 2021.

Stacey is currently working at a Care Home where 95% of the residents have a form of dementia and has become passionate about the role the society can play in supporting those living with dementia and all those who care for them.

She continues to be moved each day by people she meets who are affected by dementia both in her personal and professional life.  She hopes that her passion, experience and commitment can be put to good effect as a volunteer and Trustee for Pelonomi Foundation.
